The girl who played Osama in the movie, Marina Golbahari, is my age. After reading her bio, I found out she was a beggar (who couldn't read or write) when she was cast and that she was paid only $14 to play the lead. She got some more money later on from film festival awards, and she bought her parents a mud house in a poor part of Kabul. Her dream is to be an actress and one day direct. Right now, she's going to a school run by an Afghan relief agency for children. (IMDB) Best part: the skipping near the end.
