RIP Khia 'K-Swift' Edgerton 1980-2008 Pay respect to where respect is due.
"The thousands of fans who filed into Morgan State University's auditorium for Khia Edgerton's funeral yesterday could recite her accomplishments: recording artist, radio personality, leader of an underground music movement.
But during the two-hour music-filled ceremony, those fans learned how Edgerton rose from spinning records in her family's Randallstown basement to become "K-Swift," leader of Baltimore's club music scene. The story is a by-the-book lesson on the value of hard work.
"She didn't talk about building an entertainment empire - she just did it," said Marc Clarke, of radio station 92Q, where Edgerton was the first female DJ. "She didn't talk about losing 170 pounds. She just did it. And she didn't rely on a man to build her dreams. ... She didn't bat her eyes." (Baltimore Sun)
Peep the suspected official "Seeing Sounds" album cover. Ironic cuz I just handed in my cd cover assignment on Monday after 2 weeks doin it. GUESS WHAT ALBUM I CHOSE?? Yes, deviantart (yea yea yea i know, amateur anime world). I know NERD was goin for an epic look, but... I don't know. Maybe it's the whole "anti-trend" trend goin on all of a sudden.
MEAN TIME, "A.K. ALL THE WAY!" DIME.
Who coined "staycation"????? I wish I had these directing me to cheap buys. But that'd probably look more like those arrows in NFS Underground. Yeyuhhh. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. Need. Tickets.
4REAL is my kinda show!!! I defnly joined the community! I watched the MIA show and was hella drawn to Kimi's story. He was pronounced dead and thrown on top of corpses when he was a kid (he wasn't really dead, just dying of starvation) and he comes back and does this?? Hero quality. Anyway, it also amazed me how they lined up for a turn on the slide. A turn on the swingset. So many things I take for granted are like dreams-cum-true in places like Liberia. Watch this show if you get the chance!
Still can't get over this vid!! (and the show!)
The Publics say: "At 23, Argentina based illustrator/designer Gianluca Fallone has already worked for brand heavyweights like Nike, MTV and the Cartoon Network. His pop-psychedelic style and knack for self-referential ad design reads like a unique blend of Kashiwa Sato and Chuck Anderson." FALLONES GOT IT GOIN OWN!!!
Let's just say I had a better angle. Yee Yee! Glow in the Dark Opening Night in Seattle \ N*E*R*D - hella on point!!!!!!! new shit: anti, spazz, everyone nose--bomb. synesthetic visuals. definately rockin like they do from now on. (still wanted to hear 'kill joy' though. lmao @ the fob term). "People's energies are made of their souls. When you die, that energy may disperse but it isn't destroyed." - Pharrell Intro/Concept - "searchin the universe for creativity..." this dude's way off this earth and he knows it. good lookin out for us dreamers. great flow from song to song (worked out like a story). Stage/Visuals/Effects - 11/10. if i was a stage designer, i wouldnt have done much different. Performance - Kanye was the only person on stage for the whole 90 minute set (no breaks either)... that says something. Loved how he made everyone say "im sky high" and all that other good motivational stuff (15-20 times over and over again).
"Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great." - Mark Twain
He knows that only the greatest people make other people feel like they can be great too. Im getting the feeling he understands that when you spread your wealth (non-material or material) around, you get even more back. I know I hella sound groupie right now, but I dont know of any other rapper/artist (off the top of my head) that tries this hard to influence other people to chase their dreams so sincerely. Sure, some musicians donate money and raise awareness for things, but it doesn't always affect everybody. But when you're talking about dreams and potential--that's something everyone has. The idea of changing the world through individual advances in character, instead of spending millions and trillions of dollars on short-term fixes is without a doubt MUCH more effective in solving some of our problems right now. Much respect to West & N.E.R.D
WOW essay. Anyway, they needa put this out on DVD.
This entry was just too good to not write another entry about. Yo! Nobody asked you to ask yourself "who posts other posts?" This rubber cement isn't doin me focus much good. Now, I'm gonna pull shit out of that blog to put on my blog. Get at me plagiarism officers, I'm not citing my references properly.
"The Web is not just for pornography anymore. Now it’s where art and commerce have their first date, get engaged and formalize the nups. The Web is the space where you hear about what’s new, and then before you and your fellow fanboys can gush, it’s cycled through. Witness the phenomenon where people apologize on their blog when they’re “late” (perhaps a week) to linking something that’s floating around the trendy Web sites, as though they’ve let you down. You and their 11 other readers."
(photoshop disasters) lmfao.. disclaimer: this is only 'lmfao-funny' if you've been to school for photoshop"
This kinda killed my optimism for a minute. Sigh... ECIAD kids... Always up to no good. I wonder what would happen to all the egos of art school kids if we were all told we would never be found out. Ah, what then. I wonder if they have security on that rooftop... cuz I'm sabotaging. Penis on head. THEY BETTER LET CAMS IN TMRW @ GLOW IN THE DARK
I haven't yelled at characters and talked to myself while watching a movie in a long time. You shoulda seen me during the breakout scene. Cooler King's Triumph was badass but I'm lookin at you and you. BE MINE!
Eerie. Ambiguous. Cold. How the hell did they make graphics like these in the 60's?? 2 hours into it is a straight trip. Definately not recommended for anyone who isn't interested in sci-fi, extraterrestial life, evolution, and technology--it'll just bore you (there's only a tiny amount of dialogue). The monolith scenes shook me. I still don't know what to make of this movie... But I wanna buy it. Dug up this awesome poster for the film...
the music video concept me and dude francis came up with rocks this version. someone give us $$$.
speaking of $$$, I was gonna post edison chen's $$$ vid but I thought I'd save you from the earache. the vid by itself is hot though. his leaked pics/vids aren't so hot though. ha! richmond rep.
Yes, that's Alice Deejay. :| :| :| And.. I think... it works... :|:|:|:|:|!!!!! *Elementary school memories flood back*
AHHH Amazing Race Asia 2's done!!! I'm already bored and waiting for next season. But I gotta admit, can't beat the racers this season. Lucky Rovilson. Aside from being a magazine editor, he's dating Vanessa... do you know how much I want this dude's life?? ( 12 ) Marc & Paula too man... I feel like an asian gossip columnist so I'll get back on track. I'm a little disappointed they came in 3rd, but the Singaporeans definately deserved to win. I can only imagine what that experience would've felt like. Ahh can't wait to go back to Asia.
Hahahah wtf is wrong with old people these days? Grow some skin and teach them for fucks sake.
Disneyland's Tomorrowland featured Monsanto's House of the Future in 1957... (skip to about halfway)
Using the internet on your phone will finally be fast and reliable. Clear images (even if you keep zooming in), embedded media actually playing, and open source platforms that let techies download easy-to-use applications to their phones just like they would on Facebook.
Shell's ex-chairman wants the EU to ban automobiles that do under 35 miles to a gallon, and for the more polluting cars to be taxed more. I say: why the fuck hasn't this been done before??
