A few days ago I went and saw the KRAZY! exhibit at the Vancouver Art Gallery. Fuckin. Kill. I'm no anime or comic book nerd or anything but it was bomb. Don't miss the big room with Akira playing on 4 walls and sofas to pass out on (made for meee). After seeing Shaun Tan's "The Arrival" at the exhibit, I went and picked it up at Chapters yesterday. This book is insanely beautiful. I don't wanna call it a graphic novel cuz it isn't like any of them. You gotta "read" it to know what I mean.

He was pronounced dead and thrown on top of corpses when he was a kid (he wasn't really dead, just dying of starvation) and he comes back and does this?? Hero quality. Anyway, it also amazed me how they lined up for a turn on the slide. A turn on the swingset. So many things I take for granted are like dreams-cum-true in places like Liberia. One of the most magical, significant, and reassuring movies I've seen in my entire LIFE. If you liked Waking Life, Last Mimzy, The Secret or even Zeitgeist, you might get the big idea in this movie. When people see this movie (even professional film critics), they either get it or they don't. There are a lot of very cynical criticisms about the movie, and just as much praise for it so it is DEFINITELY not for everyone.

Performance - Kanye was the only person on stage for the whole 90 minute set (no breaks either)... that says something. Loved how he made everyone say "im sky high" and all that other good motivational stuff (15-20 times over and over again).

Sure, some musicians donate money and raise awareness for things, but it doesn't always affect everybody. But when you're talking about dreams and potential--that's something everyone has. The idea of changing the world through individual advances in character, instead of spending millions and trillions of dollars on short-term fixes is without a doubt MUCH more effective in solving some of our problems right now. Much respect to West & N.E.R.D

One of my most, most, most favourite films of all time. It's easily a contender for my #1 spot. I've seen this movie about 8 times and it never grows old on me. James Dean's character totally seeps through. Out of his 3 films, I honestly think this is his best. Most people will tell you it's Rebel or Giant but I think with this being his first big break, his innocence completely helps define Cal. It gets me wondering though, how much of his acting was really just him finding a medium to let it out. Out of all my idols, he's definately the most like me. He's a sculptor, painter, photographer, menace, intellect and did everything he felt like doing.

It isn't his superstar status or the media attention that got me floored when I heard about this today. He crafted his talent further and further and further. Most people would only dream of taking their talents any further, but he spent his talent lavishly. For that, I have an immense amount of respect for him. For sure, he's just crossed another milestone in his life and he's on his way to doing more and more with his life. Just like they all do. I wish him the best of luck.

In the Philippines, watching fireworks being set off all around me. Then watched my grandparents celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary. Then had dinner at a restaurant on the beach. Then drove to the airport to fly off to Australia :D

January 2nd: It was really, really, REALLY--no like REALLY-- sad leaving the Philippines. I mean, I hadn't been there for 13 years and still it felt more like home than Vancouver. It's WEIRD cuz I never thought it would be like that but on the drive to the airport it hit me that way. But on the positive side, the same day I landed in Melbourne, and even though I was beginning to be a little homesick, I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else. "Asian girls with Australian accents?!"

What was your biggest failure? First semester.
What was your greatest achievement? Actually working.

How would you rate this year with a scale from 1 (crappy) to 10 (amazing)?
9. It woulda been a 10 if it wasn't for such a CRAP semester (-1). Otherwise, vacations (+2), senior-to-freshman-life (+2), self-development (+3) and Kato (+2) made it a helluvalot better.

What are you excited for in 2008?
Turning 19, a more relaxed semester, UpDharmaDown's new album, sister's wedding, cousins from mom's side comin over to kick it, the possibility of transferring into a better program/school, buckling down and getting myself somewhere.

What would you like to have in 2008 that you didn't have in 2007?
A Macbook Pro, $, and obvious opportunities.
